The first due engine company, Engine 2, encountered a heavy volume of fire in the carport area of the single story rancher. Engine 2 put one, two and one half inch and three, one and three quarter inch hand lines into operation. The second due engine, Engine 6, boosted the pressure at the hydrant feeding Engine 2. The fire quickly spread across the entire attic space of the residence. As the structural integrity began to come into question, all crews were pulled out and a defensive operation was put into place. Two engine companies responded to the scene from Warehouse Point in East Windsor and one engine company from Hayden Station in Windsor. It took firefighters over three hours to bring the blaze under control and fire personnel were on scene for over five hours. A task force consisting of two ladders, three engines and one rescue from the Town of Enfield was on standby in the Windsor Locks Fire Headquarters during the incident. There were no reported injuries and the fire is under investigation by the Windsor Locks Fire Marshal?s office. Photo Gallery 1st Responder News
