This year marks the fifth anniversary of the 9.11 tragedy. Looking back, the WLFD, like many other fire departments, held a "Fill the Boot" drive. The WLFD presented the collected donations to 3 of the firefighters from FDNY's Squad 41 in the Bronx, who lost 6 brothers that day.

The 3 firefighters came to Ad's Pizza in Windsor Locks and were presented with the donations as well as a painting of their apparatus with the 6 men lost riding in the front.
