The Windsor Locks Fire Department was dispatched to a reported bedroom fire at 78 Center Street just after 1 pm on Sunday. Due to the quick response of the first due engine and truck company, firefighters were able to quickly enter the 2 1/2 story structure and extinguish a mattress fire in a second floor bedroom. A mutual aid engine company from Warehouse Point was on standby in the Windsor Locks station. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Windsor Locks Fire Marshal's office.
