WLFD Radio System

Volunteer firefighters in Windsor Locks, like many other towns, are alerted to emergencies by Motorola pagers. These pagers are activated by audio tones which open the pager so that the voice message can be heard. The tones are sent out over the radio system by the 911 dispatcher at the Police Department which is followed by a description of the emergency. The public can monitor these radio transmissions by using a scanner.
